NYC FYI

So I recently got back from a trip to NYC. Let me just say how much I love this city! Truly amazing and so eclectic. I tried to take photos of my fav stores that I visited and thought to share them with you. I have also included some out of this world photos of window displays that knocked my socks off! Seriously, if all retails stores fashion or not put this much effort into their windows, this world would be a better place. HA!
  1. DROOG- an amazing show room filled with the most fabulous designs. A little bit outside the box but so worth the visit.  www.droogusa.com
  2. MARYAM NASSIR ZADEH- located in the lower east side, right by our hotel, this eclectic store carried local designers from clothing to accessories. The store is chic and contemporary, my FAV were these delicious rings made from keys! www.maryamnassirzadeh.com
  3. MUJI- I first went into MUJI in Japan and fell in love with the simplicity of the whole store. Carrying everything from clothing and furniture to kitchen goods and bedding, its all about understatements. www.muji.com
  4. CB2- A mix of IKEA and Crate and Barrel, this store is filled with fab home furnishings and at prices that will blow your mind. A great place to pop into and get some great ideas for your home as the merchandising is killer! www.CB2.com
  5. EVOLUTION- A must stop for any lover of nature. Every space, nook and cranny is filled with the most extraordinary items found in nature: sea shells, tortoise shells, coral, taxidermy, rocks, gems, the list goes on. Everything is outrageous and out of this world. I LOVE IT. www.theevolutionstore.com

Stampede Fashion on VIBE

So, I was just on VIBE 98.5 this morning chatting with Mark, Dani, and Fuzzy. This is a local radio station talking about Stampede Fashion do's and don'ts. I was on with my partner Jason Krell and we had a blast. Here are some of the things we talked about:

Ladies:
1. Shirt Dresses are key, pair them with some great vintage boots a scarf and a great chunky leather belt and you are set.
2. Please where shirts that are fitted. No one looks good in a bulky dress shirt, so if you are going to go with a nice Gingham print shirt, be sure its darted and fits you well.
3. Forgo the mini jean dress or the daisy dukes. We are trying to showcase Cowgirl Chic attire not a Sexy Cowgirl Halloween costume.

Men:
1. Please invest in a nice, fitted pair of jeans. Now, I don't mean super tight wranglers either. Ones that make your tush look great and have a great wash.
2. Throw a fabulous printed shirt on. You don't have to stick to just plaid and gingham. Try gorgeous florals or bright paisleys for something a little different.
3. Don't wear cowboy hats that are too big or too small for you body type. You don't want to end up looking like a rodeo clown.

Happy Fashionable Stampeding!

My Rona Home

There is some exciting buzz around Calgary as there is a new show called My Rona Home being filmed here. The premise of the show is that there are 2 couples, given a designer and a contractor each. They then have to design a home, top to bottom and each week a different room is revealed and the viewership votes to see whose room they like the best. At the end of it all, whichever couple has the most votes gets to keep the house.

Sooooo, yours truly got the part of the designer on one of the teams!!! This means I will be designing a house in a matter of a month, from lighting to cabinetry to bathrooms and flooring and everything in between. The thought seems a little crazy, and it is but I am truly excited about this new venture. So bring it on!!! I will keep you posted on the deets so stay tuned.
